Islais Creek runs along the floor of the canyon, going underground near the Rec Center, and re-emerging just west of 3rd St, to empty into the Bay. Islais is the name given to the native cherry tree that can be found along the banks of the creek. I was told Islais is a native american word from the indigenous tribe of the northern Peninsula.

Demolition, such a sad way for a stadium to go. This is still a great facility, I'm sure it can be used for something else.

This is actually the curviest road in SF (Lombard is the second-most, despite the absurd number of tourists that go to it).

With a parking lot often used (in plain daylight) for drug deals.

Interestingly, the Lindsey stone at SF National Cemetery lists the father as "Edward I. Lindsey" and a death date of 1842. The internment control form for both burials also reflects this information. It is possible that these are transcription errors, or, since the original gravestone was likely quite weathered after 80 years of exposure, someone was guessing at the information.

My friends lived next door to him, back in the 80's, when he moved in there. He upset them by adding onto his home, taking away part of their view. I went climbing near there once, and almost died.
