I like going here when I was younger, they hold events here like during some Philippine Fiestas here for the Fil-Am communities. I love the park and I do remember an indoor ice skating bowl nearby.....

My mom went to Mercy High and her best friends went to ICA and one of my mom's friends from ICA whom my mom said was wild & crazy, entered the Carmelite Monastery at Cristo Rey in San Francisco. My mother and some friends went to visit this girl and they were allowed in for a visit, but could only speak to the novice carmelite through a screen and iron grilles. My mom said they were not allowed to see her face. The visit was only 15 minutes. My momn said they are only allowed out of the monastery to seek medical attention. Most of their entire day is devoted to prayer,

Nicknamed "EMB" by skateboarders.
Famous former skateboarding "Mecca" popular in the late 80s to mid 90s featured in many skateboard videos before the city demolished various ledges and concrete structures. Skaters from around the world would travel to EMB just to skate there. Brick surface of the plaza gave a very distinctive "click-clacking" sound given off by skateboard wheels.
Some famous skateboarders that frequented EMB:
Mike Carroll and brother Greg
Mark Gonzales - "The Gonz Gap" was named after him after he was the first to ollie the very large gap that also featured a big drop. Gap has since been demolished.
Henry Sanchez
James Kelch - aka "The Mayor of EMB"
